The quote we were asked to match had the timber going straight down. We measured an 18mm fall across the kitchen, which would have shown as flexing boards inside a year. So the job started with a self-levelling compound and a day of waiting, then the timber. It added a day and a bit to the price, and it is the difference between a floor that lasts and a floor that gets relaid.
